Proper Procedure for
Parking on a Hill
When parking on a hill the following acronym should be used.

1)  P=Put your transmission in PARK
2)  A=Apply the PARKING brake
3)  R=ROTATE your wheels in the proper direction
4)  K =Turn off the KEY

If you are parking uphill with a curb turn your steering wheel to the left as
far as it will go. Your vehicle will be stopped when the wheels will of the
vehicle touch the curb.  This is the only time you turn the wheels to the
left.

If you are parking uphill with NO curb, turn your wheels to the right.  The
vehicle will back off of the road to the left.

Any time you park downhill, with or without a curb, you always turn your
wheel to the right so the vehicle will leave the roadway.

MEMORIZE THE P-A-R-K ACRONYM AND RECITE IT EXACTLY AS IT IS
STATED TO THE DRIVERS LICENSE EXAMINER  WHEN  YOU ARE ASKED;
